Lyons Southeast Airlines - LSA
In spring of 1982, a virtual airline was born in East Tennessee.
It's routes began in the Tri-Cities area of Northwest Tennessee and operated as a feeder airline out of TRI - Tri-Cities regional airport in Blountville TN to several tiny virtual airports ...
LVA, ETS, BRI, KPT, BLF etc.
As the years went on, Lyons' Virtual Airline grew, and in March 1984 became LSA
which better reflected it's route system. Lyons Southeast Airlines - LSA.
LSA continued to grow in 1984 and by the fall, needed more aircraft and personel to achieve it's goals for route and fleet growth. By late 1984/early 1985, LSA had added the routes and aircraft as well as most of the personel of Air Tampa to LSA.
It was a great thing for Air Tampa, whose route system was experiencing very low boardings and had ceased operations during spring/summer 1984.
LSA continued to prosper and in spring of 1987, along with Owner/Founder Steve Lyons, launched Pinellas Airlines as a new scheduled airline.
Since Feb 1987, Pinellas Airlines and LSA have operated together and today are Pinellas Air Group, along with their subsidiary airlines.
